I was rather excited upon being invited as I realised this was an opportunity for two great things; the first being a chance to wear my favourite pyjamas which may or may not happen to be a onesie (no judging – they really are just so comfortable) and secondly, a chance to bake some cute popcorn cupcakes… I may also have taken this brownie and tripled the recipe as well as baking another two batches of cupcakes (which you will see in the next few days). Suffice to say, it was almost enough to feed a small army.

Chocolate Caramel Slice

The Little Red Tart Chocolate Caramel SliceOut of all the slices that exist in the world of baked goods, chocolate caramel would have to be my favourite. I find you just simply cannot go wrong with a crisp biscuit base and a thick layer of delicious caramel, topped off with a coating of chocolate.

Walk into any bakery in New Zealand and without a doubt, there will be chocolate caramel slice sitting behind the glass, just waiting to tempt you; it is a true Kiwi classic.

Martha Stewart’s Caramel Cake with Caramel Buttercream Frosting

A lot of what I have baked so far has been rather simple and I wanted to start branching out into recipes that were more complex and more involved.
